Your Trusted Partner for Arizona Mortgage Licensing

Expanding your mortgage business into Arizona? Arizona is considered one of the more challenging states for mortgage licensing, due to its unique requirements. Unlike most states, Arizona mandates both a physical brick-and-mortar location and an in-state individual to serve as the Responsible Individual (RI) in order to obtain a license. One of the key requirements is appointing a Responsible Individual (RI) — and we’re here to make that easy.

At Alfa Licensing, we help mortgage companies meet Arizona’s RI requirement with a streamlined, compliant, and affordable solution. Whether you're entering the state for the first time or need temporary coverage, our Arizona RI Program gives you the confidence and support to get licensed — and stay licensed.

What's a Responsible Individual (RI) in Arizona?

Arizona has strict guidelines for who can serve as an RI — and for good reason. The RI must be an Arizona resident both before and during their time in the role and must be in a position to actively manage the company’s mortgage operations in the state.

“Active management” means having the authority and responsibility to oversee compliance with all applicable laws and regulations enforced by the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions (AZDFI).

To qualify, an RI must also have:

  • At least three years of experience as a mortgage broker or equivalent lending experience in the last five years

  • An active Arizona MLO license

  • A W-2 relationship with your company

  • A presence in a licensed Arizona office

How Alfa Licensing Can Help!

Our partnered Arizona RI will be a 1099 contractor for the sublease of the location and a W-2 employee of your company, paid directly at a flat monthly rate. There are no service fees for partnering with our RI — we keep things simple and straightforward for your business.
